Science Research Specialist I
Brief Description of the Position
•To assist the Cluster Head in managing the PHIVOLCS Visayas Cluster Monitoring Center for Earthquake and Tsunami (PVCMCET) and in the supervision of the staff and personnel in the 24/7 operation of the Cluster Center, including holidays, rendering 7 days in a month in the Cluster Center other than his/her obligations in his/her respective station.
•To supervise the earthquake data acquisition, processing, analysis and interpretation for quick reporting of event parameters, for timely issuance of Earthquake and Tsunami Information.
•To supervise the collection of earthquake, tide and tsunami data and up-to-date submission of daily earthquake and tsunami data
•To facilitate the timely issuance of Earthquake and Tsunami Information especially when the Cluster Center is activated to do the tasks.
•To facilitate the repair preventive maintenance and upgrade of all the earthquake and tsunami stations and other installations within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of PVCMCET (SCSS=10, STSS=24, SLMS=7 and CTAS=6 as of 2024)
•To facilitate the compilation of all issued Earthquake and Tsunami Information.
•To facilitate the coordination works with all the Local Government Units (LGU) within the AOR of PVCMCET.
•To assist in the earthquake and community tsunami awareness programs and activities within PVCMCET.
•To act a resource person and spokesperson of the PVCMCET.
•To assist in the development and enhancement of Standard Operating Procedures for the issuance of Earthquake and Tsunami Information, Advisory, Warning and Cancellation.
•To assist in the development and enhancement of necessary Work Instruction and Manual for any system or interface added to Earthquake and Tsunami Network Operations.
Other works assigned by the SOEPD Chief and the Section Head related to Seismic and Tsunami Network Operations including external meetings and field trips to any of the Clustered Stations.
