One (1) Project Technical Specialist I for Landslide Risk Awareness and Preparedness Strategic Communications
Project title: DYNASLOPE
Project description: The PHIVOLCS-funded project Development of Early Warning Systems for Landslides, also known as the DYNASLOPE Project, is a multidisciplinary endeavor addressing the problem of landslide risk. The project is composed of instrumentation engineers, software engineers, civil engineers, geologists, social scientists, and community developers working together towards the development of a community-based early warning system for landslides.
Employment status: Contract of Services under PHIVOLCS locally-funded project
Contract Duration: February 3 to June 2025 (may be renewed if performance is satisfactory)
Monthly Salary: PhP 47,606
Educational Background
- Bachelor'sdegree in Fine Arts, Mass Communications, Development Communication, Community Development, or related fields
Job Description
- Conduct research (both process and output) pertaining to one of the major outputs of the Project; Co-lead and facilitate the development & implementation of IEC materials for various stakeholders that are gender-sensitive and inclusive;
- Facilitate and conduct relevant capacity-building activities related to the implementation of EWS-L and setting up CBEWS-L;
- Produce, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, articles, reports, guidelines, modules, presentations, social media releases, brochures, and other materials that showcase the Project’s activities, products, and services.
- Develop and implement communication strategies identified in the communication plan; Coordinate activities and output with relevant teams pertaining to communication strategies for public awareness & advocacy, response capacity initiatives;
- Conduct pre and post-fieldwork administrative tasks;
- Conduct work related to the implementation of early warning system protocol;
- Participate in meetings and workshops facilitated for the whole Project;
- Submit necessary individual/team/group documents to MEAL;
- Perform other duties that the Project may require.
Experience/Training/Competency
- At least two (2) years of experience and skills in developing IEC campaigns, communication & visibility materials, preferably with skills in social media management and analytics, and media engagement
- With experience in developing and executing public education/engagement campaigns within communities on disaster preparedness or other development issues
- Knowledge of running social media campaigns
- Has skills in communication research, IEC development, and facilitating training/workshops;
- Demonstrate good communication skills, both in English and Filipino; additional local language/s is/are preferred
- A strong media network is an advantage
- Strong writing skills (e.g. journalistic, creative, research, technical)
- Well-acquainted with all or most of the video production phases (e.g. pre-production, production and post-production)
- With experience in video editing programs such as Final Cut Pro X, Premiere Pro, etc.
- With experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
