One (1) Project Technical Aide VI

 

Project title: Evaluation and Determination of Eruption Potential of Philippine Volcanoes (EDEPPV) Project

 

Employment status: Contract of services under Volcano Geology, Geochemistry, and Geophysics R&D

 

Contract Duration: 1 year (renewable every 6 months)

 

Educational Background: BS Geology or other related field

 

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for generation of maps and other GIS-related outputs using up-to-date geologic data and various modeling and remote sensing techniques for Philippine volcanoes.
2. Conduct further research on the applications of basic to intermediate programming language, remote sensing, and artificial intelligence/machine learning in volcano geologic mapping and hazards and risk assessment.
3. Provide fieldwork assistance such as volcanic deposit mapping, stratigraphic logging, river channel observation (for lahar assessment), collecting samples (rock, charcoal, water, etc.) if necessary.
4. Provide support in drafting technical reports and presentations as well as preparation of administrative-related documents.
5. Perform other duties as assigned, especially during volcano-related emergencies and may not be exclusively project related.

 

Experience/Training/Competencies:
- Background in Earth Science (basic)
- Close attention to details (basic to intermediate);
- Judgment in interpreting analysis results (basic to intermediate);
- Computer literacy (basic to intermediate);
- Interpersonal skills (basic);
- Professional license or relevant working experience is an advantage
