The PHIVOLCS-funded project Geospatial Information Management and Analysis, also known as the GIMA Project, is a continuing project under the Geomatics and Hazard Assessment Services Section that supports the frontline services/ operations of the Geology and Geophysics Research and Development Division. It provides data governance, develops analytic methods, and produces products using geospatial information generated by DOST-PHIVOLCS.
Implementing Agency: Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS)
Employment status: Contract of Services under Geomatics and Hazard Assessment Services Section (GeomHAS)
Contract Duration: July - December 2025 (may be renewed if performance is satisfactory)
Monthly Salary: P 27,871.00
Job Description:
• Design & generate value-added hazard maps
- Regional/Provincial/ Municipal scale hazard maps
- Volcanic Hazard Maps
- Gender and Development (GAD)-sensitive maps
• Adopt ArcGIS Enterprise in the conduct of information generation
• Perform RS/GIS analyses related to geologic & hazard interpretations for generation of maps during emergency situations
• Support in the maintenance and monitoring of the Geomatics & Hazard Assessment Services Operations
• Support in ensuring that all maps produced are published on GISWEB portal
• Generates reports, submits minutes of meeting attended.
• Conducts fieldworks related to QRT (emergency disaster events) and perform tasks as may be required
Educational Background:
- BS Geography, Geology, Geodetic Engineering Graduate or 4th yr student of related field
Experience/Training/Competency
- Knowledge in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications (ex. ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.) and RS image processing (ex. radar (InSAR) and optical (change detection)) is preferred
