DOST-PHIVOLCS-led HazardHunterPH App is shortlisted to compete for the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Smart City Asia Pacific Awards 2022 (SCAPA) under the Public Safety - Next-Generation Emergency Services Category.  The IDC Smart City Asia Pacific Awards 2022 recognizes latest innovations and transformations led by cities, governments, and ICT suppliers across the Region.

HazardHunterPH is among the 75 entries shortlisted from 330 nominations in the Asia Pacific. Each year, in a span of six months, SCAPA identifies, benchmarks, and gathers citizen opinion to determine the best Smart City initiatives in the Asia Pacific. The selection process involves a 7-phase benchmarking assessment to determine the most outstanding projects across 15 eService categories. The judging criteria are: IDC Advisory Council assessment (25%), IDC analysts’ benchmarking assessment (50%) and public votes (25%).

One winner will be selected for each of the15 SCAPA categories, including the Public Safety – Next Generation Emergency Services, where HazardHunterPH will compete with four other projects. Cebu City’s Intelligent Traffic Light System is also nominated in the Transport Infrastructure Category.

Now in its Phase 2 of the selection process, citizens who benefit from HazardHunterPH and Cebu City’s Intelligent Traffic Light System may cast their votes at Voting period will run from March 15 to April 7, 2022.

Winners will be announced in June 2022.
