This program develops communication strategies and campaigns geared towards efficient and effective information delivery and capacity enhancement of various stakeholders including women, children, PWDs, senior citizens and indigenous peoples in volcano, earthquake and tsunami disaster preparedness and risk reduction.
This program uses community-based approaches and utilizes information, education, and communication campaigns to ensure sustainable engagement of stakeholders. It will be research based, whereby in-depth studies in two major areas will be conducted; (1) socio-cultural and economic dimension of disasters and (2) communication in the context of volcano, earthquake and tsunami disaster preparedness and risk reduction, in order to gain better understanding of specific targets’ profiles, perceptions about hazards and risks and disaster information needs.
